Echinodermata

An illustrated publication on Mexico’s iconic echinoderms

This publication emerged from a stay at the National Echinoderm Collection “Dra. María Elena Caso Muñoz” at UNAM, under the guidance of Dr. Francisco Alonso Solís Marín. Through direct observation of specimens from the collection, it explores the classes of echinoderms, with an emphasis on iconic species from Mexico.

Created for those curious about art, science, or the sea, Echinodermata draws on the tradition of natural history illustration, rooted in the early connections between art and science, to open a window onto the enigmatic world of echinoderms, a world that remains largely invisible beyond specialized circles.

Text editing, publication design and illustrations by Enya Santamaría. Edition of 100 copies, set in Bauer Bodoni and printed on 100 gsm paper.
